You might ask “wasn’t Architecture Month in April” and you would be right. However, AIA has shifted its annual celebration to the entire month of October to align with ‘World Architecture Day,’ celebrated on the first Monday in October. World Architecture Day was established in 2005 to “remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat” by the Union International des Architects (UIA). This intentionally aligns with “World Habitat Day,” which was established in 1986 to remind the world that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns. The Public Awareness Committee agreed that instead of just celebrating one day, they would open it up to AIA Wyoming members for the entire month of October. This month of celebration also helps to create general public awareness of the Architecture Profession and to celebrate Architects and design professionals in our state by showcasing their achievements and the impact that Architecture has in our communities.
Casper Presentation
On the evening of Oct. 27, 2022, Lyle Murtha, AIA, and Anthony Jacobsen, AIA of Stateline No. 7 Architects, gave a presentation from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Round House Conference Room of the Thyra Thomson Office Building.
This presentation gave a complete overview of the process for this State Office Building project from its inception, through design, and construction completion. Approximately 25 people attended and were provided with an abundance of information and detail on what it took to co-locate 11 different state agencies into a “one-stop” governmental office building to improve efficiencies and omit redundant spaces in their previous lease spaces. The presentation provided insight into how combining multiple functions in a building benefited and improved interactions for all.
