The following excerpt is from a homeowner’s unsolicited 1993 letter after receiving drawings of their house that were designed by Eugene “Jeep” Dehnert in the early 1950s in Billings, Montana.

Inspiration comes from many sources, from the colors and forms in the sky, from the sun on the leaves and grass in the fields, from the laws of nature, from the creation of human works and from the people in our lives. Jan Paul entered ours in the studio of a Cheyenne office.

In 1997 the AIA Wyoming Chapter established the Architectural Education Foundation of AIA Wyoming (AEF-AIAWy) devoted solely to educational purposes such as to assist Wyoming students obtain an architectural education at National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited schools of architecture. The AEF-AIAWy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and is administered by the board of directors, volunteer members of AIA Wyoming. Multiple scholarships are typically awarded each year to deserving Wyoming residents or Wyoming high school graduates.

Bruce started his own office, Bruce Hawtin Architect, in 1971 in Jackson, Wyoming, following work experience that took him overseas to Denmark and northern Virginia. He completed 12 years as a member of the State Board of Architects and Landscape Architects, serving as president for five years. He is a past president of AIA WY and was made a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1998.

Danny Wicke, Principal at Prospect Studio in Wilson, Wyoming, has been named a recipient of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2024 Young Architects Award. Wicke’s innovative designs and commitment to sustainability have set him apart, showcasing a blend of creativity and pragmatism in his approach to architecture. Wicke continues to shape the architectural landscape with his innovative projects and inclusive ethos. His receipt of the AIA 2024 Young Architects Award cements his status as a rising star in the profession — as well as within Wyoming — promising even greater contributions in the years to come.

Now retired, Charles “Charlie” Van Over, AIA, designed a legacy of thoughtful and purposeful buildings that are both beautiful and functional. His love of natural lighting was at the center of many of his buildings, focusing on healing the body and restoring the human spirit.
