2015 Directory
11 I t has been a busy and rewarding year for the Public and Profession- al Awareness Committee. Many of the projects we have taken on have been very successful and have proven that communication and awareness throughout the Chapter and the public has great benefits. O ur first publication was created last year to cover the activities of AIA Wyoming in 2014 and it was a great success. AIA Wyoming's first yearly publication is proud to be the recipient of two interna- tional awards. We received the Communicator Award of Excellence for our magazine and directory. The Communicator Awards receive over 6,000 entries and is an international awards program recog- nizing big ideas in marketing and communications. As the second award, we received the Gold Hermes Creative Award. The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative pro- fessionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs and emerging technologies. The Communi- cator Awards are about the message and the content and the Hermes Creative Awards focuses on the design, look and feel. Hundreds of publications were mailed out and distributed to legislators, state departments, schools, contractors, realtors, clients, members and many other people around the state. Building on this success and in cooperation with The newsLINK Group, LLC, we have created our second yearly publication that you are reading here. We are seeing the benefit of creating a document that helps bring awareness to the public about AIA Wyoming and the architecture profession. The AIA Wyoming calendar has also been a success in the fact that some Architects around the state have acquired jobs because a client saw a photo of a project in the calendar and wanted something similar with their project, so they contacted that Architect. The images in the calendar are of Wyoming projects throughout the State, designed by Wyoming architects and designers from across the State. The members of AIA Wyoming have submitted their best projects completed in the last few years, and the overall Chapter voted for the project photos to be used in this year's calendar. We would like to thank anyone who has bought a calendar last year for proudly displaying your calendar and getting the public and professional awareness we seek. See the back cover of this publication for more information on ordering or contact AIA Wyoming at info@aia-wyo- ming.org or viewing our website at www.aia-wyoming.org. The Public and Professional Awareness Committee continued the National Architecture Week celebration by holding tours around the state; Casper: Art 321, T Square (Stateline No.7 Architects), Jackson: Open house at Vera Iconica Architecture, Sheridan: Baas Residence at The Powder Horn (Dan Stalker), Henry A. Coffeen Elementary School SCSD2 (TSP). See within this publication for photos and descriptions of these tours. The Public and Professional Awareness Committee have been enhancing member opportunities by increasing activity on AIA Wyo- ming Facebook. We are striving to provide more posts and informa- tion about all activities and announcements from around the state. Please join us in liking the AIA Wyoming Facebook page and inviting other professionals and colleagues to like it as well. As always we are looking for more volunteers to join our committee and help us provide AIA Wyoming with great communication and awareness throughout our state. The Committee will continue to enhance opportunities and activities to increase awareness of our great profession. b Public and Professional Awareness Committee Architecture Awareness Matters BY ANTHONY JACOBSEN, AIA - CHAIR Members of Public and Professional Awareness Committee: Anthony Jacobsen, AIA - Chair Rosalie Ruwart, ASID, NCIDQ Lyle Murtha, AIA Aimee Bolton, AIA
