30 WYOMING ARCHITECTURE .15 | www.aia-wyoming.org The conference continued with another local artist, Betsy Bower, de- scribed her interest in metal and welding and how her labor in her father’s welding shop from age twelve evolved into her career as a metal artist. Her lecture included a segment on how to allow the left and right brain to work together and separately to be more creative and discussion of her wild and untamed imagination that have opened doors to the seemingly endless possibilities that exist within the realm of metal art. Her project examples included a “stealth” desk, lamps, furniture, donor walls, struc- tural columns and a building sculpture “tree” on the Haven Art Gallery in Casper, examples of age old skills of suing tools and rawmaterials to express and create. National renown architectural photographer, TimHursley, continued the afternoon session with an inspiring collection of architectural photogra- phy that included both commissioned work as well as free-lance pho- tography. The images included projects from densely populated cities to sparse rural areas of the South and include the transition from film to digital photography.
