26 WYOMING ARCHITECTURE .16 | www.aia-wyoming.org Jeffrey L. Sheppard, AIA David H. Hart, FAIA Greg Dekker Matt Ashby BY SUSAN MENGHINI, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR T he 2016 AIAWyomingWinter Conference was held in Cheyenne February 19-20, 2016 at the Herschler Building. The theme of the con- ference was “Iconic Architecture: Merging Past and Present.” Iconic architecture can symbolize the past or make a statement about the future. Many iconic buildings have stood the test of time and speak of legacies; other iconic structures push the envelope of building technologies creating wonder or contempt. Both types of iconic buildings shape our cities and impact the design and development of our communities. We explored iconic buildings, both old and new, and the impact these buildings have on our city’s culture and the surrounding built environment. Friday’s guest speakers included Jeffrey Sheppard, AIA, Greg Dekker, David Hart, FAIA andMatt Ashby who presented at the Herschler Building on topics related to symbolic and revered architecture. He has experience in multiple gov- ernment facilities, educational facilities, hotels, and residential and high-rise office buildings. His approach has resulted in astounding project success and has influenced management of complex public projects nationally. Mr. Hart has managed all aspects of programs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that project design addresses constructability and value engineering to effectively meet scope and budget requirements.
