30 WYOMING ARCHITECTURE .16 | www.aia-wyoming.org AIA Wyoming Annual Fall Conference BY CHET LOCKARD, AIA, CONFERENCE PLANNING TEAM CHAIR A IAWyoming 2016 Annual Fall Conference returned to Jackson Hole on October 6-8th with the theme “Designing for Affordability”: Where affordable designs from global and local perspectives need to address the economics, health, design, innovation, and many other contribut- ing factors to growing communities. A reception kicked off the conference onThursday at Dynia Architects with and Emerging Professionals event. The conference sessions on Friday were held at The Teton Science Schools. The first session was presented by Jonathan Schechter on The Health of Surrounding Environment and its Fundamen- tal Systems. This was followed by a presentation from renowned architect, educator, and author, Avi Friedman, Ph. D. on Thinking Outside the Box about Affordable Homes and Communities. The middle of the day was broken up with the viewing of a PBS documentary, Architecture in the Tetons , featuring local AIAWyoming architects, Cornelius Kinsey, AIA and Stephen Dynia, FAIA who were accompanied by the Jonathan Schechter Avi Friedman
