This year we were graciously provided funding from the Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects (WBALA) to enhance our outreach to the public even further than previous years. The Public and Professional Awareness Committee continued the multiple successful projects that help keep communi- cation and awareness progressing throughout the public and our Chapter, but we were able to expand upon our abilities for awareness. National Architecture Week was celebrated in April by holding tours and lectures around the state. Due to the WBALA funding, we were able to create a flyer and advertise around the state in the major newspapers to create widespread public awareness for the following events; Casper: Book Signing at Art321 (State- line No.7 Architects), YMCA New Facility Tour (MOA Architecture), Sheridan: Tour of Boyle Residence (Dan Stalker, AIA), Tour of Wyatt Studio (Dan Stalker, AIA), Laramie: Presenta- tion and Tour at UW High Bay Research Facil- ity (Chet Lockard, AIA and Michael Ziemann), Jackson: Architectural Reception at Ward + Blake Architects. You can read about these tours and events within this publication which includes photos and descriptions. Next year we will be hosting our spring conference during the same week as National Architecture Week to capitalize on these events. The calendar project was also enhanced by the funding from WBALA, we were able to switch up the format of the calendar and provide a larger format with more information about each of the main projects and the importance architecture plays in the public realm. The images submitted this year are just as wonder- ful as the previous years, and look great in the larger format. This year the calendars are also FREE since we were able to cover the printing costs with the entry fees and the additional funding from WBALA. The images in the calendar are of Wyoming projects throughout the state, designed by AIA Wyoming archi- tects and designers from across the state. For more information on AIA Wyoming calendars, contact AIA Wyoming at info@aia-wyoming. org or viewing our website at www.aia-wy- oming.org. See also the back cover of this publication. We are now in our fourth year of the publica- tion and this year is special since AIA Wyoming is celebrating 70 years as a chapter of the Amer- ican Institute of Architects! Since the WBALA helped us greatly this year, we have dedicated a page to describe their purpose and to include some history on the WBALA. As always with this publication, we aim to continue expanding our distribution list of industry partners, legis- lators, state departments, schools, contractors, realtors, clients, members and many other contacts throughout the state. The benefit of having a publication like this for AIA Wyo- ming, is that it provides a small package with lots of information that can easily reach and educate the public on our profession through our activities and programs of our Chapter. With the funding from WBALA, we were also able to create an insert in the Wyoming Business Report that gets distributed to a greater audience across Wyoming and will help spread the awareness of architecture even fur- ther. This insert had a lot of great information about AIA Wyoming and many of the projects that are around the state, along with informa- tion about the role architects play in health, safety, and welfare of the public. The Public and Professional Awareness Com- mittee continues to keep the membership up- dated on current activities around the state by refreshing the AIA Wyoming Facebook page. We continue our goal to provide posts and information about all activities and announce- ments from around the state. Please join us in liking the AIA Wyoming Facebook page and inviting other professionals and colleagues to like it as well. We are always open to new ideas and volunteers to help us provide AIA Wyoming with great communication and awareness for the public on the profession of architecture. 2017 was a banner year for AIA Wyoming and everything we accomplished during our 70th anniversary year. Here's looking forward to 70 more years of bringing awareness to the public and pro- viding great architecture that defines our world and lives. b Public & Professional Awareness Committee Awareness Expands for the 70th Anniversary Year
