Jefferson is the only U.S. President to be recognized for his architectural affinity. 0  YESTERDAY |TODAY |TOMORROW Established 1947 A group of eight Laramie residents had the privilege of touring the new University of Wyoming High Bay Research Facility. The tour was led by Erin Radosevich, PE of Malone Belton Abel P.C. and Michael Ziemann, LEED Engineer with UW. They ex- plained how the exterior of the building architecture and landscaping follow the University’s Long Range Development Plan through the use of materials and connections. Behind the tall stone walls and the dark glass windows the interior houses some research that requires a unique building design. National Architecture Week Laramie Tour T wo building tours were scheduled to help celebrate National Archi- tecture Week in Sheridan. The April 14th tours included a 6,500 s.f. custom home at The Powder Horn Golf Community and a 1,000 s.f. contemporary Art Studio in Sheridan. We were pleased to welcome between 30 and 40 guests at each location. Both projects viewed received kind accolades. The tours were casual and guests were encouraged to walk through each project unaccompanied. Any questions offered were answered in context. Owners of the Art Studio were available to enthusiastically provide an Owner's design perspective and to answer questions. The tours helped draw attention to the variety of work that architects provide. “I feel that it is the architects responsibility to not only design significant or everyday structures, but to also elaborate and celebrate the role that an architect plays in the built environment as well as our commitments to community and to society.” Dan Stalker, AIA. Great architecture is not only a great idea or a great building, it is also a story well told, it is a process worth pursuing. Truly great buildings come as a result of many successful discussions and by fostering honorable relationships. The two tours were used to help explain not only what architects do, but why. I feel that the work we provide is significant in all instances. I look forward to an even greater turnout next year as we continue to annually celebrate National Architecture Week. Sheridan Tours
