22 WYOMING ARCHITECTURE .18 | www.aia-wyoming.org State Government Network Annual Meeting BY MIKE POTTER, AIA S tate Government Network continues to monitor what is going on in the state legislatures around the country. Sev- eral items of interest have come up this year, including states wanting to do away with state licensing requirements so anyone not having a license can practice without becoming licensed in that state, school safety, self-certification of building plans, equitable procurement in government projects and the list goes on. This is all monitored through email and postings on the SGN discussion board. SGN met in Madison, Wisconsin in July. There were several panel discussions relating to licensing and how it is under attack in some states, discussions on the building codes and how architects can affect how the codes are changed – let your voice be heard. The face to face discussions with members from around the country and the issues they face with their legislatures is helpful in seeing what could be coming to Wyoming. It makes me glad we only have short legislative sessions. b
